whats working this week......

a new color direction ..
..i always listen to a certain shopkeeper and cyber buddy, over in PICKERINGTON ohio....her store is called ,feather your nest, ...its a cool store and in about its 8th yr i think...so she has survived and knows a lot..... AND she gets good input from her college age girls ..... anyway, shes been talking about amy butler fabrics....i never heard of her, its not my thing..thats not my color range....
..but anyway i heard denise talk about those colors and the style and i love the look of her s tore............so I ORDERED SOME THINGS from creative coop in the mid range primary colors.... and put them in my foo foo room....and WALLA ....THEY SOLD....AND TO A COUPLE OF MY BEST CUSTOMERS..... SO maybe ive found something popular that i wasnt aware of.... .
ALSO our peace signs are selling...she has that too... on baby clothes!!!????...
..... THANKS DENISE....
i wish she had a blog so i could show you her store....
ALSO WORKING SO FAR....OUR ETSY PROJECT... I CANT TALK MYSELF INTO fullblown ONLINE SELLING..who is making it work? i just dont see it happening for very many.... waiting to hear on that....to me, working would have be something at least around 10$$$ an hour in profit...or more....
.. but our narrow etsy thing is going pretty well.....within our narrow rules, mainly vintage supplies for the artists and nothing under 20$.... we have 96 sales in just a few months.....im aiming for big piles of vintage at wholesale prices... http://www.gypsymarket.etsy.com/
ALSO WORKING....LOTS OF THE CUTE AND REASONABLE MISC...THAT HAS BEEN COMING IN FROM THE YARDSALES AND ME OUT BUYING.... THE FUN AND JUNKY....
as well as the good stuff....if priced right...
A NEW IDEA..........i might have a baby idea here who might have a chance!!!.... one of our workers has a vinyl machine...and a daughter who can and needs to work.... we have tons of young married girls thru here ..they probably go to lots of weddings..... WALLA....I THINK I HEAR A NEW POSSIBILITY TRYING TO POP UP... like a cyber buddy posted....there are births weddings etc in any economy.... we could make personalized wedding signs
my rule about new little baby ideas...dont squish it...try and be open, dont tell dh , he loves to stomp on them..before they even get filled out..... if i say i have a new idea he covers his ears... .
i need to think this thru and try and plan it out right.....
i need frames, samples, a clear easy way to present it, pick the choices, and aim at the amy butler girls....

Ann, coming from the quilting world, Amy butler is HUGE! Don't under estimate the power of her products. That age group loves her! Hope that helps!

Hi Ann! We love Amy Butler (Anna Maria Horner is also great); we've been using their fabrics for about 2 years with good response. Amy Butler also has stationery and several books you might like -- Found Style and Midwest Modern among them. xo -- Sandy/rhubarb reign

Ann - where have i been?! I didn't know you had another blog!! I follow the magpie one daily (and get mad when you haven't posted anything new ina couple days hahaha) and then I saw this link, came over here and it's a business blog! AND you talked about little ol' ME!!! I'm honored!!!

For those of you that have never been to see Ann or know her...she is so modest and looking to others when SHE is so many others role model, she is MY "Smitty" lol

I only wish that I could pull off what she has done for 30+years. I learned to shop fleas from her...never been to one and one year she let me follow her around at Springfield and it was so entertaining and enlightening to see her deal with the dealers and them deal with her... and their eyes light up when she started making her huge piles (and Steves look of dismay at what he was going to have to load up :-) )

Amy Butler - Ohio native and so on target with the 20-50 year olds...she is moving into home decor and paper products, an author and pattern designer as well as fabric. Follow her direction on style trends for that age group and the midwest and you won't be wrong. She is the new Rachel Ashwell for this generation...a true trend setter for this generation. Get them away from that boring Pottery Barn look they've been loving for the past 10 years and onto some COLOR!

SOOOO Glad I found this blog - Ann, have you been telling me abou tthis and I'm not listening hahahaha

glad you didn't put the photo with us actually in front of the truck - we were a hot mess that day lol.

I love the looks we get driving that truck home from your place - we look like the beverly hillbillys and everyone that passes us looks at us sideways - and to see two gals in the truck is probably even more hysterical!

you need to get signs made to attach to the back of loads like that "Just Visited GreenOak Antiques" with your phone number or email. free advertising driving across country :-)
